Research and Critical Writing
The research and critical writing sub-group aims to create awareness of regional, national and international textile research and develop research collaborations between academics, practitioners, curators, industry and other research active groups and individuals. The sub-group aims to raise awareness of critical theory, new technology and the cultural and conceptual issues that surround contemporary textile debate, which is presented to members via TFSW conferences and seminars. The group aims to promote critical engagement with practice, but also hopes to encourage people to analyse, write and present their findings about issues that surround different areas of textiles.
We welcome those with an interest or expertise in textile research and innovation who are currently engaged in practice-based or theory-based textile research and anyone who is interested in exploring questions related to contemporary textile research, or in developing a greater awareness of critical theory related to their own textile practice. The subgroup will encourage the development of research relating to both contemporary and historical textiles.
If you would like to join the group please contact the TFSW coordinator for further details.
TFSW are currently looking for a new person to run this group on a voluntary basis and liase with the TFSW management committee. In the mean time please contact Amy Houghton, Textile Forum South West Coordinator.
