Education and learning
The education sub-group of Textile Forum South West has been established to engage with issues related to teaching and learning in textile education and develop textile activities related to these areas.
We welcome HE lecturers, FE lecturers, school teachers, education officers from museums, galleries and local authorities; textile educators who run workshops or work outside conventional educational pathways and anyone with an interest or expertise in textile teaching and learning.
The education and learning group is closely linked to the other Forum subgroups. We feel that education and learning underpin the Forum's activities and will be an integral part of the activities of other subgroups through combined events and initiatives.
If you would like to join the group, or require minutes from the previous meetings, please contact Sue Bradley via email at bsuebradley@aol.com or by post at Textile dept. Bath Spa university College, Lansdown Park, Sion Hill, Bath.
Past events: The education and learning subgroup held a special one day meeting on Saturday 8th April 2006 at the Holburne Museum Lodge in Bath. A range of examples of textile teaching and student work were discussed to help share good practice. Textile teachers and lecturers from across the region attended to share ideas and develop awareness of textile teaching at school, FE, HE and postgraduate level. For details of future events please contact Sue Bradley. Email: bsuebradley@aol.com
TFSW held a 3 day workshop 'Colour Ways' at University College Falmouth in July 2006, which included laser applications for textiles, hand painted and screen printed textiles, photoshop and digitally printed textiles, and felted textiles. The workshops enabled TFSW members to advance their practice and learn new skills and we had very good feedabck about this event from those who attended.
