Hi Lindsay,
Welcome to TFSW. You are right there isn't much activity on this forum as yet. This forum is fairly new so I am hoping more members will join it soon and make the most of talking with each other in this way. I am afraid that I am not in the Torbay area, I am based in Bath but I am doing a residency in Plymouth starting in September at Plymouth College of Art based on the Slow movement so I will be making visits to your neck of the woods. You may be interested in applying to the TFSW Material Actions exhibition which will be held at Plymouth College of Art see the Exhibitions and Audiences page or the Events and Archives page of the TFSW website for details. The deadline is the 24th August. I know we have a few members in the Exeter area but until the forum starts to get more active you may also want to send out your message through Liz Hewitt our membership secretary asking for members local to you to get in contact, her email address is: contact@textileforumsouthwest.org. I very much enjoyed looking at you images on the TFSW website and I am looking forward to the next phase of our website where we will be able to see where each member is based on an interactive map.

thanks for getting involved Amy its nice to hear from you, i used to live in Weston-s-Mare so know Bath fairly well. I have thought of submitting to the exhibition but not sure where my work fits in with the brief? i would love to do some new work for it but time is running out for me to formulate my ideas in time for the new deadline. I will try and sort something out though because it sounds quite exciting.
Thanks for the idea of using Liz to circulate my post i will try that, good luck in Plymouth and hope to chat again soon
best wishes Lindsay

Check out the new 'map' page on the TFSW website where you can see where other members are based. Make sure you are logged in when you veiw it so you can see all members as only some show on the map when you are not logged in.

This is all thanks to Aerian Studio web development team, I personally think they have done a brilliant job.

Hi - I am new here, and just wanted to say Hi...

I am Shani, currently living in Bristol, but spending more time in Devon.

I haven't gone down the University route with my textile study, but have studied art through the City of Bristol college and other classes, along with belonging to the Guild of Spinners Dyers and Weavers.

Best wishes
Shani
