Past TFSW events & activities

Date:01/02/2004 - 31/12/2008

The Forum hosts a range of events and activities every year for TFSW members. These include an annual exhibition, a conference, workshops, portfolio surgeries, meetings and seminars.

The Creative Sheepskin and Leather workshop is led by professor Basil Kardarsis, a lecturer in menswear at the Royal College of Art and an international designer. This workshop encourages exploration of materials, with participants introduced to a range of techniques and taking an experimental approach to creating their own samples and artefacts.

Tea and Textiles are informal get togethers for Forum members to discuss their work with other makers and talk textiles for an afternoon. Friendly and informal these events take place at makers' studios and homes across the region and members can bring other friends along to join in the discussion.

In summer 2007 the Forum was invited to take a stand at Walford Mill Craft Fair, providing a platform to sell a range of work by Forum members. The practice and industry group are keen to work with members on selling events so please contact the group's leader if you are interested in this opportunity (details on the practice and industry page of this website).

Forum conferences are one of the main events where all our members can meet up and hear a range of interesting and innovative speakers. Some are Forum members and leaders in their field of practice, such as Carole Waller and Janet Stoyel, others are internationally recognised practitioners such as our past speakers Shelly Goldsmith and Zandra Rhodes. We produce conference documents with all the speakers' presentations as text and photographs. These are free to delegates, then sold by the forum to raise funds for future events. If you would like to purchase copies of past conference proceedings please contact Liz Harding at contact@textileforumsouthwest.org
